McLaren Automotive recently staged the first ever MP4-12C test drive event for global media at the Autodrómo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal. This milestone event in the life of McLaren Automotive - the world’s newest sports car company - was the first opportunity the media has had to get behind the wheel of the groundbreaking new sports car.
Journalists were given an insight into the bespoke, innovative technology that features in the 12C by the very team responsible for its design and development. The 12C’s Carbon MonoCell, ProActive Chassis Control, 7 Speed SSG transmission, McLaren Airbrake and its 600 PS (592 bhp) 3.8 litre V8 twin turbo engine were scrutinised by journalists as they experienced the first ever ‘pure’ McLaren.
From 14th February 2011, prospective customers, McLaren fans and sports car enthusiasts will be able to read independent reviews of the 12C Production Prototypes in leading automotive publications, online and in print around the world.
