  • 12C ON POLE POSITION AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

    Published: 07/07 /2010

With McLaren Automotive’s Chief Test Driver Chris Goodwin at the wheel, the MP4-12C was the first car to be driven up Goodwood Hill at this year's festival. The 12C was subsequently granted pole position in every Supercar Run over the course of the weekend. This was a fitting gesture as Formula 1 World Champions Jenson and Lewis would be behind the wheel of the McLaren Orange Validation Prototype (VP9).

Jenson led the Supercar pack on Saturday.

It was Lewis' turn to take the 12C up the hill on Sunday.

In addition to another 12C VP car and a 1995 McLaren F1 GTR, many of the visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed were drawn to a 12C rolling chassis displayed on the McLaren stand. This was a rare chance for visitors with an appreciation for innovation and technology to see first hand the car’s hydraulic suspension arrangement, its carbon Monocell chassis, compact 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine and unique transmission unit.
