Under one roof

Working closely to inspire each other

Step inside the McLaren Technology Centre and you can’t help but be inspired. Architect Norman Foster’s ‘form follows function’ ethos is shared by McLaren Automotive Chairman, Ron Dennis. Find out how, together, they applied McLaren’s attention to detail to Working closely to inspire each other

The vision for the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) was simple: to create a state-of-the-art facility that inspires engineering innovation, racing success and technical excellence, bringing the diverse McLaren groups together under one roof.

Our 57,000m HQ houses more than 1,200 employees from McLaren Automotive, McLaren Racing, McLaren Applied Technologies, McLaren Electronics and McLaren Marketing. McLaren Automotive’s open-plan design studios and offices are located directly above the manufacturing and development facilities, encouraging team work and the rapid flow of ideas.

Antony Sheriff, Managing Director of McLaren Automotive, believes that it’s this collaboration that allows McLaren to design and build such unprecedented cars: “There’s an extraordinary level of interchange between the departments because of our physical proximity. Within 20 seconds I can be in the styling studio, in our development workshop or with the engineering team. This encourages a unified approach and allows us to solve engineering problems quickly and continually inspire each other.”

Ultimately, the MTC’s unique design brings the engineering excellence of all McLaren’s businesses together, in a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere that encourages innovation.
